Pastor David Werner
David grew up in small towns in North Dakota. After graduating from Jamestown College, ND, he attended seminary at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia. He took a year off of seminary so he and his wife, Teresa, could spend a year serving churches in Sheffield, England. After seminary they moved to Minnesota, where he has served United Methodist churches in Atwater-Rosendale-Cosmos and Duluth Lester Park before coming to Forest Lake in 2009. He and his wife have two children, Rebekah, age 17 and Nathan, age 15.

David also received a M.Th. in Church History through Luther Seminary in St. Paul, in 2005, and received a  D.Min. in Congregational Leadership and Mission through Luther Seminary in St. Paul in 2016. To see David’s credentials, publications, and professional history click here

David enjoys church history, leading Church History Study Tours, spending time with his family, and traveling.

David believes that John Wesley’s teaching offers a relevant way for the church to intersect with life today. He is excited that the current post-modern culture offers the opportunity for Christians to return to a missional lifestyle and embrace an early Church way of “doing church.”
