    Disciples Make…A Difference
This is the last of our Disciples Make message series, and we end strong...and visible! Being a disciple of Jesus is an inner journey of surrendering your selfishness. Yet it is also an outward journey into the world. Disciples make a difference in concrete, visible ways in their. This Sunday we’ll be commissioned to serve others in visible ways in our everyday lives.

    Disciples Make…..God Talk
“The tongue is the mightiest weapon!” This quote rings true for each one of us! How we speak, what we say, is some of our greatest impact. This Sunday we’ll discover how disciples use their tongues for good. But it’s not just about not saying bad things and intentionally saying good things. It’s about filling our talk with God.

    Disciples Make……Routines for Growth
People often say, “Jesus I like, but not the Church,” or “I’m spiritual, just not religious.” The reality is that if we are just spiritual, we are not really growing spiritually. It takes the context, structure and accountability of a local church to push us to grow. Without that, we stagnate at where we are now. This Sunday we’ll explore how Disciples Make . . . Routines for Growth.

    I’m Not Worthy
    Series: Declare!
New Years is a time to be honest. As we make resolutions, we admit that we are not the people we want to be. Yet, when Jesus-followers admit our faults and sins, it is not a “downer” on us, but actually a boost in our value. Jesus came because even broken, to Him we are worth saving! This Sunday we come honest before God, admitting–like John the Bapist–that we are not worthy. As we do, we hear how our value comes not from being worthy, but from Jesus’ love for us “while we were yet sinners.”

    Be Baptized
    Series: Declare!
Ready for 2019? Maybe not just yet! But I think we never will be ready, actually. So, the best thing we can do is commit our past to the past, but make that intentional decision to give 2019 to God. We do that by making a New Year’s resolutions to courageously follow Jesus, no matter what the year ahead may bring. This Sunday we’ll commit 2019 into God’s hands through renewing our baptisms.

    Look!
    Series: Declare!
Christmas lights, decorations, and merrymaking are everywhere! There is so much to dazzle the eyes. But where do your eyes rest this Christmas? What do you look at that penetrates into your heart? What do you see that is more than a passing flash? Perhaps John the Baptist has the answer. He says, “Look!” and points to Jesus. Look hard. Can you see the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world? Of all there is to see this Christmas, rest your eyes on the baby Jesus!

    Believe!
    Series: Declare!
John the Baptist calls us to believe. Salvation comes through our belief in Jesus.  It is a simple message, but what does it mean?  And how can we help others understand?  Join us this week as we take John's words to heart and think through what belief really entails.

    Repent!
    Series: Declare!
Decorating our homes for Christmas usually includes clearing away what normally sits on our furniture and walls to make room for Christmas decorations. It also includes a deeper cleaning as furniture is moved and corners are tidied. John the Baptist, who calls God’s people to prepare for the coming of the Savior, called us clean up our lives. This Sunday we’ll hear the voice of preparation call out: Repent!

    Prepare!
    Series: Declare!
John the Baptist may not be the first person we associate with Christmas.  However, he is the one who came to prepare the way of Jesus the coming King of kings!  John personifies Advent, which for us is a time of preparation.  As we begin Advent this week, we consider what John has to tell us and what we ought to do in response. Like John, we can be a voice crying out!  Find out how you make this more than just another Christmas season.

    Breaking Point
The call to love others means to go the extra mile to show respect to those with whom you disagree. Yet, the Bible also cautions against abusing your own health and welfare, and how love can, at times, call you to stop enabling error. This Sunday we’ll explore the times when “tough love” compels us to correct others, and even sever our relationships. Part of loving means healthy boundaries!

    Let’s Eat Together
One of the “stuck” conversations God’s people have is around human sexuality, and particularly around homosexuality. There are faithful Christians on all sides of this conversation. How do we talk about this? How do we love and accept each other? How do we find a way forward together? This Sunday we’ll hear how the United Methodist Church is forging a “way forward” that will define our church’s approach to homosexuality.

    Love is Hard Work
Every saint in heaven has gotten there (and will get there) with some wrong beliefs and errant  thinking. Luckily, it’s not about getting it all perfectly correct! Instead, it’s about genuinely loving Jesus and seeking to make Him first in your life. And, as Jesus-followers, the same is true with the other people around us. Our relationship with them is not based on the uniformity of our thinking, or them getting certain understandings right. Instead, it is based on love, the love that we choose to have for them. This changes everything! Come this Sunday to hear an alternative to the pervasive culture of hate-speech and animosity. Love looks different!

    Man, He’s Annoying!
You know that annoying person, the one who always sets you on edge? You try to steer clear of him. You make yourself busy when she comes around. But God wants you to make a connection with that person. God is sending you to be a light to him or her. This Sunday we’ll learn how to see God in those people we want to avoid. It’s time to change your view!
