Together, let’s unpack them after the resurrection.

Luke joins forces with Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2 and the Rebel Alliance as they continue their battle against the Empire and the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. In the second installment of this course, we will focus on Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back through the lens of the study book by Eric S. Gale entitled Using Star Wars to Share Your Faith: Lessons from The Empire Strikes Back as well as through the film itself. We will explore not only how to begin to share our faith with others but also the deeper topics of who we serve, what changes as we listen to Christ’s call in our lives, letting go of past sins, and many others!
Details: Our ten-week journey will build on what we previously covered in our first course, but it is NOT necessary to have taken that class first…join us for round two!! Older children, with parental permission, are welcome to attend. The Star Wars films are rated PG for mild violence, brief language, romance, and some scary images. Weekly handouts will be provided.

Wednesdays

Be Like Jesus
Host: Pat Rosenbaum
Day: Wednesday Evening, 6:30pm – 7:45pm
8 sessions: March 3 thru April 28, no session March 31
Location: Meet in person at Church or virtual
Description: We know we are becoming like Jesus when we possess these attributes: deep love for God and others; inner contentment in spite of circumstances; understanding of our purpose in life; freedom from anxiety; self-control, patience, thoughtfulness, kindness, loyalty, and slow to anger. Becoming Like Jesus Is a Journey! God wants to transform your thoughts and your actions so you will bear good fruit, impact the world, and experience joy in your life. But for this to happen, you must remain in community with Christ so he can instill his life-giving spiritual virtues within you. As you do this on an ongoing basis – abiding in the presence of Jesus on a daily basis – the more spiritual fruit you will produce. Be Like Jesus reveals how practicing these spiritual virtues, when embraced in your heart and mind, will lead you in fulfilling your mission to not only think and act like Jesus but actually, be like Jesus.
Details: This study includes video teaching, group discussion questions, case studies, personal reflection questions, and Scripture readings.

Renovate Building a Life with God (Wednesday Session)
Host: Sue LaVigne
Days: Wednesday Evening, 6:30pm – 7:45pm
7 sessions: March 3 thru April 14
Location: In person at Church, virtual option on request
Description: Grab your tool belt for physical renovation. For spiritual renovation, turn to God. Popular author and pastor Jacob Armstrong explores how Nehemiah understood the difference. Nehemiah’s goal was to rebuild the wall and gates of Jerusalem, a physically daunting undertaking. But he also knew that as the Jewish people returned to their homeland, they would need spiritual renovation—an equally difficult mission. Thankfully, spiritual renovation is not a do-it-yourself project, and Renovate, part of Armstrong’s The Connected Life series, emphasizes how we need God’s great power in us to renovate our lives through the Holy Spirit.
Details: Video and book-based study curriculum, study and discussion guide provides scriptures, introductory information, discussion questions, and prayers to structure a group conversation on the subject of each video.

Summary: Could it be that there is more to prayer than we thought? Two thousand years ago, Jesus pulled his disciples aside and taught them to pray. In examining his instructions, we find a disconnect between his teaching and the way we typically approach prayer. We discover that there are some things about prayer we think are important but aren’t; and there are some things we don’t think are important that are.
Details: Video presentation followed by group discussion and prayer time. No book or homework.
