Restoring the Creator-Creature Relation

Psalm 57:5

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;

Let your glory be over all the earth.

John 8:54

Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing.  My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me.”

Revelation 4:11

   You are worthy, our Lord and God,

                   To receive glory and honor and power,

          For you created all things,

                   And by your will they were created and have their being.

Prayer

        O God, be exalted over my possessions.  Let nothing of earth’s treasures seem dear to me, but only that You are glorified in my life.  Be exalted over my friendships.  I am determined that You be above all, even if I must stand deserted and alone.  Be exalted above my comforts, even though it means having to carry heavy crosses. Be exalted over my reputation.  Make me ambitious to please You even if, as a result, I must sink into obscurity and my name be forgotten. Rise, O Lord, into Your proper place of honor, above my ambitions, above my likes and dislikes, above my family, my health and even life itself.  Let me decrease that You may increase; let me sink, that You may rise above.
