Live Free: No Lying! (The Spirit of Truth)
By: Pastor David
Series: Set Free to Live Free
This Sunday is Pentecost, the third of the three biggest Christian celebrations. We mark the gift of the Holy Spirit given to us as God’s people, to live in us and through us. We are not alone! The Bible also calls the Holy Spirit “The Spirit of Truth.” On Pentecost we will have the last of our Ten Commandment messages: “Don’t lie.” We celebrate that we have the Spirit of Truth so that we can stop lying and start speaking words of life and truth!

- May 24, 2020Live Free: Do Not Covet
May 24, 2020Live Free: Do Not CovetBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Set Free to Live FreeIf you could have anyone’s car, home, abilities, physical appearance, spouse, or life, whose would you have? Notice, as you consider this question, the awakening of that inner “itchy” feeling as you want what you can’t have. That’s coveting. It’s not just wanting (we all want nice things), but it’s the inner restlessness in wanting what is (or should be) beyond your grasp. This Sunday our discipleship goal is to want instead what God wants for us.

- May 10, 2020Live Free: Do Not Steal
May 10, 2020Live Free: Do Not StealBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Set Free to Live FreeWhat did your mother teach you about stealing? Well, so does our heavenly Father! Stealing is so prevalent in our day that much of life includes measures to protect our goods, and we don’t even realize how odd it is to have all this security. This Sunday we’ll try to hear our mothers teach us again about what God says about our penchant to steal.
- May 3, 2020Live Free: Do Not Commit Adultery
May 3, 2020Live Free: Do Not Commit AdulteryBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Set Free to Live FreeThe Seventh Commandment is just two words in the Hebrew, “no” and “adultery.” God compares marriage to a vine. You’ve got to invest a lot, and you’ve got to wait a long time. You’re going to need to be patient and tending to it if you want it to grow and be fruitful. Adultery is like a weed eater that carelessly severs the vine’s base, killing it in an instant. This Sunday again is a provocative message on the Biblical understanding of the holy act of the sexual experience.
- Apr 26, 2020Live Free: Do Not Murder
Apr 26, 2020Live Free: Do Not MurderBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Set Free to Live FreeThe Sixth Commandment is just two words in the Hebrew, “no” and “murder.” Yet these two words together change our whole frame of life itself. This Sunday we’ll cross political, ethical, social, and societal boundaries and enter into the realm of controversy. God’s path of life, however, provides a way through, if we open ourselves to listen!
- Apr 19, 2020Live free: Honor Your Parents
Apr 19, 2020Live free: Honor Your ParentsBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Set Free to Live FreeThe Fifth Commandments is to “Honor your father and mother.” For some, the thought is uplifting. For others, it’s devastating. Yet the Bible provides no qualification or exception based on what they’ve done. It’s all about what you do! The path of abundant life includes honoring your parents. This Sunday we’ll discover just what this means, and looks like for you!

Apr 5, 2020Signs for Life: Curves Ahead (Palm Sunday)By: Pastor DavidSeries: Signs for LifeJesus said, “In this world you will have trouble.” Jesus said that His way was steep, and narrow, and hard. - Mar 22, 2020Signs for Life: Yield
Mar 22, 2020Signs for Life: YieldBy: Andrew BonsellSeries: Signs for LifeA yield sign is pretty much a stop sign stripped of it's power. But, what does it have to say to us spiritually speaking? As we continue Lent, we stop to allow God to proceed. Join us as we talk about the benefits of yielding!
- Mar 15, 2020Signs of Life: Do Not Enter
Mar 15, 2020Signs of Life: Do Not EnterBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Signs for LifeWe try to stay on God’s way, and yet, while on God’s highway, we tend to drift a bit. We try to stay centered on God, but we are attracted to other paths. We must heed the “Do Not Enter” signs! God’s path is a calling to stay close to the center line. We seek to live pure, holy and perfect lives.
- Mar 8, 2020Signs for Life: Speed Limit
Mar 8, 2020Signs for Life: Speed LimitBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Signs for LifeThe Speed Limit road sign is a spiritual reminder to travel at a speed that God prescribes, not at the speed we want. It means trusting God with our lives, a contentment to do it God’s way: not being too complacent, and not to be too impatient. This Sunday we’ll see how God’s speed is the best speed for us . . . and for those around us!
- Mar 1, 2020Signs for Life: No Outlet
Mar 1, 2020Signs for Life: No OutletBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Signs for LifeThe world is full of paths. Its full of roads. It’s full of options. But not all of them lead the abundant life that God intends. In fact, most don’t. So, of all the roads laid out before us, we must be very careful. Not all paths are OK. Some are very destructive. Others do not help us make any progress. Others are total dead ends. We long for life that is full and exciting and powerful and everlasting. We want a journey that goes far beyond the end of our earthly lives. Jesus offers us the finish we long for. So to find our way, we look forward to that, look forward to Him, and then make our way from there.
- Feb 26, 2020Signs for Life: Stop
Feb 26, 2020Signs for Life: StopBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Signs for LifeGod has given us a map (the Bible) for our lives’ journey on the path of life. God also provides us with signs along the way that tell us exactly where we are, what’s around us, and which direction we are going: signs that point out the way; signs that tell us to steer clear of danger; signs that help us avoid the wrong way and to stay on the right path. On Ash Wednesday, we stop. We stop to get oriented, remember our destination and check our course. God calls us to stop sinning, and to recharge.

Feb 2, 2020Set Free to Not Take the Name of the Lord in VainBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Set Free to Live FreeWhat’s in a name? Our names come from our parents. Either they chose it because they liked the name or it had special meaning, perhaps in the family. In the Bible, names describe the person, and using a name shows familiarity and connection. This Sunday we look at the 3rd of the 10 Commandments, where God forbids us to use His name without meaning. Why? Because His name shows familiarity and connection. We’ll discover how using God’s name with meaning brings meaning to our lives!

Jan 26, 2020Set Free to Have No IdolsBy: Pastor DavidSeries: Set Free to Live FreeAt first glance, the second of the Ten Commandments seems easy for us: Don’t make any idols. But when we’re honest, we soon realize that we make all kinds of idols. The antidote is authentic worship. So, come this Sunday expecting to turn your face to God in true worship!Scripture: Exodus 20:1-6
