    “Seeable God”
    Isaiah 7:14

Sometimes it seems like God is far off, distant, aloof. We struggle day by day, “messing around in the mud,” and we wonder if God even cares. God is the almighty, who created all things. But at Christmas we discover that God also notices..that God comes to us–among us...and that God helps us. This Sunday we’ll look back deep into the Old Testament prophesies foretelling of a God who gets down into the mud...even our mud!

    “Dirty Hands”
    Genesis 1:1-3

Many people struggle emotionally during the winter months when the hours of daylight are limited. Yet it is during the least-houred days of the year (right after the winter solstice) that Christians celebrate Christmas. We celebrate that into the darkness of our lives, God brings the dawning of a new light. Jesus was born as the Light of the world. It’s real! It really happened! This Sunday we’ll celebrate how in Jesus, the God who always was, got involved in life, our lives! He was willing to get dirty, get Himself full of dirt, to be our light. If you are bummed about the lack of light in your life, don’t miss this Sunday!

    “The Path To Peace”
    Series: Guest Sermon
    Isaiah 2: 1-5

Sunday, November 27th, is the first Sunday of Advent, the four week season of the church year that leads up to Christmas. The season celebrates the continual coming of the Christ in Word and Spirit. We are called to prepare for this coming. Each Sunday has a distinctive theme. This first Sunday proclaims Christ’s coming for the conversion of all nations in a great final feast of lasting peace, where all weapons of destruction are remade into implements of health and wholeness. The text in Isaiah 2: 1-5 calls us once again to consider this vision for world peace and the path that leads us there. In the
    sermon
I will share my faith and conviction that God can do this through us as we follow Jesus, even in our war torn world.

    “Hello, my name is…”
    Series: Guest Sermon
    Jonah 1 - 4

"It is human nature to see characteristics of ourselves in characters that we read about. When reading the Bible, I love to imagine myself as a character like Paul, Abraham, Moses, or any other powerful figure. As I grow in my faith, I find that I align with a much less powerful figure. As Christians today, what can we learn from a prophet that ran from God?"

  • Nov 6, 2016“Save All You Can”
    Nov 6, 2016
    “Save All You Can”
    Proverbs 31:10-31

Save has two meanings for Christians! One is that Jesus saves us from our sins, and saves us for a relationship with Him that lasts in eternity. The other is a money idea, that we save up our resources for needs and times that are coming. God blesses us so that we are equipped to live into our mission. This Sunday we’ll be talking about how the discipline of saving money makes possible future ministry we
can’t yet see. This is the second of our messages on money: Earn
    , Save and Give.
  • Oct 30, 2016“Earn All You Can”

    “Earn All You Can”
    Timothy 6:1-10

It’s time to talk about money...and it’s good that we do. Every day we struggle with how to handle our money well, so we need to come back to God and ask how we
can do it better. But you might be surprised this Sunday. Rather than hearing about how we should learn to live on less and be content with that, we’re discovering that God’s word teaches us to be industrious and hard-working, earning, as John Wesley says, “all you can.” What? Does this mean we should be work-oholics, and focused on our earning
potential? Come this Sunday to learn how to live well with our wealth!

    Oct 23, 2016
    “I Had Trouble”
    John 16:33; Ephesians 6:10-18

We have all experienced trouble.  We have all felt the sting of defeat.  Did you know that God has equipped us for victory?  You are invited to step into a new role as we go on the offense to overcome!

“Eat them! Eat them! Here they are!”
    Corinthians 5:14-20

“How do you know that you don’t like it if you haven’t tried it?” We’ve all heard that question from our parents, and maybe others, and perhaps we’ve even
asked the question. Give it a try...you may like it! After all, what is now our favorite at one time was brand new! This Sunday were using Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham
to get excited about inviting others to give Jesus a try. Nervous about sharing about your faith? Come see how you can become more like Sam-I-Am!

    Oct 9, 2016
    “Can You Hear?”
    Luke 4:14-21

Can you hear them? The quiet whispers all around us of those crying out for help. Oh, you may not be able to hear them with your ears. You may need to listen with your spiritual senses. But it is so important that you hear! This
Sunday we’ll listen with Horton Hears a Who and try to hear the voices of those we are called to help. When we do, we find that we hear the very voice of God!

    Corinthians 13:4-7  Matthew 5:38-39

We’re getting worse at getting along! Violent acts of racism, religious expression, and different philosophical perspectives are rampant. Most of the time we shake our heads and wring our hands. What to do? This Sunday we’re using Dr. Seuss’ The Butter Battle Book to reveal how acts of aggression towards one another leave everyone a loser. God’s way is very different. It requires embracing the radical practice of authentic love!

Mark Twain said, “Comparison is the death of joy.” Yet we all do it...all the time!  And we suffer the loss of our joy because of it. It’s an epidemic in our culture! This Sunday, we’ll look at Dr. Seuss’  'Gertrude McFuzz'  to see the foolish ways we compare ourselves to others. But that’s not the end of it: we’ll then hear God’s loud declaration that you are enough! Don’t miss this Sunday when we discover our true worth.
